Thankfully, the bite of winter has only appeared briefly here in Pennsylvania.
This poem, Deep Winter, explores not only the literal winter but the spiritual one; the winter we might experience on any given day.
You can hear the spoken-word version of Deep Winter below. The written-word version appears in the upcoming Pennsylvania Bards Eastern PA Poetry Review (Local Gems Press).

As always, thanks to Mark Phillips for his lovely mandolin work. Special thanks to Chris MacIntosh (a/k/a Grandfather Rock) of Rock ‘n’ Soul Gospel on WCWP radio (Sundays 5-9 PM) for his continued support in playing new poetry.
Stay warm – inside and out – and please subscribe to this blog (if you’re so inclined). Peace, Mary

Oh how I love this beautiful poem! The berries of the holly shine. And the music! Thank you Mary.

Mary,
A timely pre-Lenten meditation that recognizes struggles and offers the possibility of hope. Bleak whiteness…greyness…can burst forth in vibrant colors…if we wait patiently…not without hope as in S&G’s “I Am a Rock”… Thank you
